“‘Let me live my life, I’m not your copy’ — Palindrom reflects on childhood trauma in his new single In his new track, Palindrom puts himself in his father’s place to explore the endless intergenerational conflict. What parents often perceive as love can ultimately traumatize their children for life: ‘Sometimes love looks strange. Sometimes it hurts. But it still leaves a mark,’ comments Stepan. In “Strange Love”, Palindrom blends rap with rock guitars and a saxophone passage in the finale. Lyrically, the song unfolds as a dialogue between a father saying, ‘You’ll understand everything once you have children of your own,’ and a son who is afraid of repeating his father’s mistakes: ‘Maybe I will never have children of my own.’ ‘This track is about inheriting not only traits, but also pain. About searching for yourself among the ruins of other people’s decisions. About gratitude that finds different destinations, and about the moment when you need to let go in order to finally begin living your own life,’ says Stepan. Palindrom is a music project by Lviv-based artist, director, and composer Stepan Burban. Working at the intersection of multiple musical genres, the artist constantly experiments with sound and emotional states, exploring themes of self-discovery and the inner world. Romantic and fragile moods often transform into social irony, while quiet observations of houseplants evolve into tributes to iconic figures of Ukrainian culture. Nearly every Palindrom song is accompanied by visual storytelling that deepens the perception of its eclectic mix of emotions and reflections. Palindrom has released six solo albums (“About Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday”, “Walls Have Ears”, “Invented While Waiting in Line”, “The Best Questions for Myself”, and “Machine for Broadcasting Dreams”), as well as a number of singles and the live album “Concert for Lort.”
